ACT Netconferences

Doing an About Face(book) on Marketing Travel Choices

Date and Time: Thursday, Oct. 15 from 2:00 p.m. to 3:15 p.m. EDT/ 1:00 p.m. CDT/ Noon MDT/ 11:00 a.m. PDT

ACT and the National Center for Transit Research's (NCTR) National TDM and Telework Clearinghouse at the University of South Florida are pleased to announce the next netconference for 2009. ACT Chapters serve as the host for each NetConference, inviting ACT members and visitors to participate. (Individual registrations for NetConferences are not available; these events are hosted only by ACT Chapters).

Summary: Traffic has always been a social subject -- today, instead of griping about it over the water cooler, many commuters take their travails online. The one-way streets of transportation demand management (TDM) marketing and communications are being paved over. Replacing print, radio, traditional outreach and other standard techniques is a new two-way road of conversation -- social media. Learn from the real-world success stories of TDM organizations in Birmingham, Las Vegas, Atlanta, and Ontario as they harness the power of social networks and social media to join the digital conversation, engage in dialogue with commuters in their areas, and realize a return on engagement that motivates change. Start thinking more like a social marketer by learning how to use social media to change travel behavior, and walk-away knowing what your TDM program needs before getting started.

NCTR will be using Enhanced Audio to improve the quality of the audio. Enhanced Audio automatically increases the volume of soft voices and decreases the volume of very loud voices. Whether speakers use a handset, headset, speakerphone or cell phone, listeners will get clear and uniform volume throughout the conference.

About ACT Netconferences

ACT, in partnership with the the National Center for Transit Research's National TDM and Telework Clearinghouse at the University of South Florida, regularly hosts NetConferences to help TDM professionals learn about timely and relevant topics. ACT chapters serve as the local host for each NetConference, inviting ACT members and visitors to participate. (Individual registrations for Netconferences are not available; these events are hosted only by ACT chapters.)

Recruiting/Networking Opportunity:

Netconferences are offered through ACT chapters for all TDM professionals, not only ACT members. Chapters are encouraged to use the program as an outreach tool to visitors and prospective members. It's a great way to introduce other TDM professionals to ACT, while building your local network.
