Telework Council

The Association for Commuter Transportation (ACT) is the premier association for professionals and organizations whose focus is the delivery of commuting options and solutions for an efficient transportation system.

The Telework Council is composed of employer representatives, regional transportation, air quality and planning officials, as well as state and local government officials. The Telework Council serves members through periodic conference calls for information sharing, articles in TDM Review, sessions at the annual conference, testimony or policy memos to government agencies, and liaison with other organizations.

Telework Council Focus

The Council addresses and shares information related to telework as an alternative commute issue to reduced congestion, improve air quality, reduce energy dependence and offer work alternatives for today’s evolving work force. Issues addressed include regional training programs, work place issues, local policies, and technology trends and developments.

The Council contributes information to ACT's journal TDM Review, sponsors periodic conference calls, and holds meetings and special sessions during the ACT International Conference. In addition, the Council works closely with ACT’s Public Policy Council to promote telework policies at the federal level, such as Congressional focus on "double taxation" of teleworkers in certain states.

Telework Council Participants

Telework Council members represent a diverse cross-section of both public and private representatives who develop or manage a variety of transportation programs. The core group of participants represents employer representatives, transportation management associations (TMAs), regional and local governments, non-profits, and consultants.
