Marie-France Laurin is the Chief Development Officer at Netlift, where she is responsible for international development. Prior to that, Marie-France was a consultant in smart mobility, autonomous vehicles, new mobility solutions and smart cities. As a specialist in strategic development, marketing and business opportunities for more than 15 years, she steadfastly focused on achieving objectives in an efficient and cost-effective manner for her partners and clients.

Netlift is a micro shuttle solution combining carpooling, taxi and dynamic parking management. We differentiate ourselves by providing a highly scalable and enforceable parking management system to improve accessibility and increase densification of your parking facilities at lower costs.

What brought you to TDM? How did you get involved in the field?

I believe that the New Age of Mobility is a cocktail of different solutions. One size fits all is no longer an option, integration of all available solutions needs to be considered to present a real offer to all types of users. TDM offers a wide range of flexible solutions and should be incorporated more in the traditional transportation industry. I’ve decided to get involved because I want to make a difference and I want to challenge the status quo. My objective: provide the right solution to the right people!

Why did you get involved in ACT? What has been the most memorable moment of your experience in ACT?

My first ACT event was the 2019 TDM Forum last fall in Seattle. Meeting passionate TDM professionals like me was eye opening and inspiring. After that first event I knew I wanted to get involved and make a difference in the TDM community. I had the chance to take part in the ImpACT! Leadership program a month ago, where I met so many amazing people. That was definitely my most memorable moment! Learning from each other, sharing our experiences, I had an incredible two days with those emerging leaders! I’m now, more than ever, looking to get more and more involve with ACT!

Within your work, what do you see as future opportunities and challenges for TDM?

More and more traditional transportation organizations are looking into TDM. The biggest challenge that our industry is facing is, for me, the process. Even if TDM is a mix of new mobility options, the process to get it adopted by public organizations is still the same traditional process. For Netlift specifically, even if we have major clients in Canada, we are new to the US market. Our new integrated carpooling, micro-shuttle and parking management programs are still looking for our first innovative American client!
