Born in the City of Guatemala along with the “American ACT Dream”, I came across The Convention Store Inc to join its sales force department. My objective was to identify the company’s mission to “Make It Easy” for customers to get around Virginia, Maryland and Washington DC by using public transit. My goal is to “Make It Happen” at each interaction with customers at the front line of service. My name is Sandra Lemus and I am a dreamer.
What brought you to TDM/how did you get involved in the field?
As a senior staff member of a transportation company that consistently strives to provide all customers with the most effective and flexible ways to get around the Washington Metropolitan Area, I’ve been invited to attend the ACT conference since the time I was promoted to manage The Ballston Commuter Store. I am currently in charge of our Shirlington and Pentagon locations as well.
Why did you get involved in ACT? What has been the most memorable moment of your experience in ACT?
My concerns about traffic congestion being the strongest obstacle to mainly arrive to work on time and my own determination to find a solution for it first got me involved in ACT. The most memorable moment of my experience in ACT took place in my office while attending the 2020 Virtual International Conference where I had to troubleshoot via phone and email to gain access to the conference and ended up experiencing the most perfect orientation ever.
Within your work, what do you see as the future opportunities/challenges for TDM?
Thinking of the future opportunities & challenges for TDM within my work, I believe we will need to diligently work on rebuilding our sales by going out to the Metrobus & rail platforms to attract customers back to our business and, most importantly nowadays, to comfort the ones who might need the strength and confidence in transportation reliability.
