I am a Transportation Specialist consultant for ICF where I assist in building outreach programs and marketing plans to build awareness around current public transportation programs and provide input for new transit programs. I was a marketing and outreach specialist for a non-profit bike share organization where we ranked top city with the most new- ridership growth in 2019. I currently do not have a car and rely on public transportation. My goal is to build a community around accessibility and sustainable transportation needs.

What brought you to TDM/how did you get involved in the field?

Houston traffic infrastructure brought me to the TDM world because I saw how unnecessary it was for people to transit in single occupancy vehicles for short trips. I saw the wide range of bike trails that can be used for commuting and bus stops that were barely getting used. I started volunteering with bike organizations and started taking public transit everyday during college.

Why did you get involved in ACT? What has been the most memorable moment of your experience in ACT? I got involved with ACT because I saw the wide range of other transportation specialists providing great materials and assistance to others around the states that can be useful to other cities. I would love to see what new programs and tools I can use from ACT to better my community and projects in the future. I just started in ACT this year and have not made any memorable experiences.

Within your work, what do you see as the future opportunities/challenges for TDM? I see positive future opportunities with TDM as we adapt to post-covid change. Public transportation has changed drastically to make both the driver and rider safe. I see us learning how to make more sustainable and safe transit options for evolving cities. One challenge I see is the increase of population that will increase the need for wider roads, more cars on the streets and not prioritizing public transit.
