Partnering with the Private Sector – Incorporating Transportation Behavior Change Tools into the Development Process -  May 2019

You’ve got a great employer outreach program, but have you ever wondered what it looks like to deeply integrate transportation demand management behavior change strategies into the land development process? This webinar will give attendees a detailed and technical look at how Arlington County, Virginia, partners with the private sector to lay a strong foundation, literally, for TDM to be successful in new development projects. The webinar will give practitioners tangible tools to build a program that integrates TDM requirements into key phases of development such as pre-approval, construction, and ongoing operations, and will describe the key challenges and opportunities of this implementation strategy. The presentation will highlight the roles and responsibilities associated with this highly collaborative approach, while showing how the method still fits within the compliance framework of County Zoning enforcement practice. Ultimately, Arlington’s process seeks buy-in from developers, building owners, and property managers by educating them on the value of TDM programs and their integration with the real estate products they are delivering.
