Purpose

The TMA Council is a volunteer collaboration of Transportation Management Association/ Organization (TMA/O) professionals who seek to inspire best practices and shared knowledge among similar organizations.  The Council addresses and shares information related to TMA/O’s, including public-private partnerships, program evaluation, marketing best practices, employer outreach, and the broad range of TDM services to reduce congestion and improve air quality.

The Council contributes information to ACT’s newsletter, Connections, sponsors periodic conference calls, and holds meetings and special sessions during the ACT International Conference. The biennial TMA Summit has focused upon specific issues for TMAs. In addition, the TMA Council helped develop the TMA Handbook, an ACT publication.

TMA Council members represent a diverse cross-section of private-sector business and public-sector organizations who develop or manage TMAs (or TMA-like organizations) across the country. TMA executive directors, program staff, Board members, market research organizations, transportation service providers, and public agencies interact to share information or develop tools that help TMAs address local issues most effectively.
