Congress Fails to Extend Transit Benefit Parity:
On January 1st, the transit benefit will revert back to $125/month (instead of $120) and the parking benefit will increase to$240/month (up from $230). Senate champions have told us that they are hopeful to reestablish parity shortly after the New Year, and ACT will continue to work with our partners in Congress and throughout the industry to make this possible.
Transit Benefit Parity Update: Call to Action
ACT wants to bring you up to date on efforts to maintain parity for the transit benefit. The transit portion of the Commuter Benefit is set to be reduced nearly in half at the end of 2011, if action is not taken. This will effectively create a tax increase for the over 2.7 million public transit and vanpool commuters that currently use this benefit. ACT is working with its partners and stakeholder to make sure that the $230/month is made permanent or extended.
