Meet the Speakers:
Kate Harrington
Director of Outreach & Engagment
Movability
Kate is a communicator by trade. At Movability she's in charge of marketing, communications, and engagement. Kate has a background as a reporter, and ran her own communications business before starting with Movability in 2019. She has worked for the Austin Business Journal and as a freelance reporter, with work published by PBS News Hour, USA Today, the Dallas Morning News, and the Texas Tribune. Even though AP Style trained her differently, Kate has come to love the Oxford comma.
Kate has an undergraduate degree from Colby College in English and a master’s degree in Journalism from the University of Texas at Austin. Before coming to Texas, she lived in her native New England, where she perfected the fine art of eating a lobster and developed a love for inclement weather.
Mijay Pavon
VP of People
Spare
Mijay Pavon (she/her) is a seasoned People Leader with strategic and operational experience in building and scaling inclusive, engaged, and performance-driven companies. Mijay is currently the VP of People at Spare, an AI-powered mobility operations platform on a mission to unlock the full potential of mobility for everyone. Her prior roles include: leading the People team at HelloFresh Canada during the majority of the COVID-19 pandemic; business partnering with the Engineering, Product, and Design teams at Scotiabank Digital Factory; and supporting all aspects of HR at Points International (now a Plusgrade company).
Paul Merkey
Associate Director of Transportation & Parking
Northwestern University
As Associate Director for Transportation and Parking at Northwestern University, Paul is responsible for planning, directing, budgeting, and delivering safe, effective, and efficient services to the Northwestern University community and its campus partners. In addition to managing day-to-day operations of both shuttles and parking, he promotes alternative transit options such as public transit, ride sharing, and biking. Paul regularly meets with members of the campus community and City of Evanston employees and communicates key issues and progress of transportation programs. Paul also oversees transit and parking needs for large campus events, including football and basketball gameday, orientation and welcome week activities, and commencement. He has been involved in both public and private university transportation systems for the past 13 years.

Marissa Basile
WeDriveU
Marissa brings a passion for client experience and substantial experience in the transportation industry to her role at WeDriveU. As the Senior Director for Customer Success, Marissa drives customer strategy, growth, and retention. She serves as a trusted advisor to her customers, continuously improving service delivery and program quality through service optimizations and innovative solutions—including transitioning fleets to electric vehicles to accelerate customers' sustainability vision.
Marissa joined WeDriveU in 2019 as a Program Manager for shuttle services in Austin, TX, where she currently resides. She holds a BA in Communications and an MS in College Student Development & Counseling from Northeastern University. Marissa is the incoming chair of the ACT Shuttle Council.
