Executive Director's Report October 2026
I’m writing this with a little jet lag still in my system and a lot of inspiration in my mind. Earlier this month, ACT’s delegation spent a week in the Netherlands, and it was everything I’d hoped. We met with the Dutch Ministry of Infrastructure to learn about their national policy initiatives and efforts to involve employers in mode shift. We experienced world class cycling infrastructure with the Dutch Cycling Embassy, riding through Utrecht and Delft alongside thousands of people for whom biking to work or school is simply what you do.
Just as important, our group laid the foundation for what we hope will be lasting partnerships with organizations helping lead the Netherlands and Europe in TDM and mobility. Anders Reizen is bringing together chief executives from the country’s largest employers to rethink how their people travel. EIT Urban Mobility is working with Johan Cruijff ArenA to launch Stadium Cities, a continent-wide initiative to expand mobility options around major venues. Thank you to everyone who joined us. I look forward to sharing what we learned, and how we can put it to work here, in the months ahead.
Back home, budget season is upon us, and we want to make it easier to plan for your 2027 participation in ACT. Our new budgeting tool helps you map out membership, events, training and recognition in one place. That way you can walk into your budget conversations with a clear picture of the value your organization will get.
Committee nominations close soon, and I’d love to see your name in the mix. Joining a committee is one of the best ways to dip your toes into national leadership. You’ll work alongside peers from across the country, shape ACT’s programs and priorities, and build relationships that last well beyond your term. Many of our Board members got their start on a committee. It’s a manageable commitment with a big return.
Finally, sign-ups are open for the 2027 TDM-AO cohort. This program gives your organization a framework to benchmark its work and earn national recognition. In a cohort you won’t go it alone. You’ll move through the process with colleagues working on the same questions, and you’ll come out with a stronger program and the credentials to show for it. Think of it as carpooling for recognition: the trip’s better with company! Learn more about TDM-AO and submit your Intake Form to participate in the upcoming cohort.
As we head into the last stretch of the year, thank you for everything you do to give people access to sustainable and convenient transportation choices.
