Executive Director's Report July 2026
Hello from Philadelphia, where our staff team has begun setting up for our 40th Annual International Conference. In just days, hundreds of our industry peers and friends will be traveling to join us. The history here is tangible, especially amid the nation's 250th anniversary, and we look forward to celebrating that milestone alongside our own 40th throughout the event. This conference is always a personal highlight, and it will be an honor to formally close out our 40th anniversary celebrations with some fun and unique events throughout the week. ACT has accomplished a great deal over the past four decades, and none of it would have been possible without the commitment and drive of our members. Philadelphia will hold a lot to celebrate, but the strength of our membership is truly at the top of the list.
At the conference, ACT's Board will convene for its quarterly in-person meeting, where it will continue to dive in to the implementation of our recently adopted strategic plan; receive an update on our federal advocacy efforts as we continue to push for TDM in the next surface transportation authorization bill, and dive into discussions aimed at ensuring the continued success of ACT.
Elections for the 2027-2028 Board open after the conference, and this year brings a slate of qualified candidates eager to step up, serve, and lead. Voting is how you use your voice to elect the leaders who will shape ACT's next chapter, so I encourage you to review the candidates guide, which will go out after the conference, before casting your vote. Thank you to every nominee for stepping up and expressing interest in leading this organization.
If you haven't seen it yet, the agenda for ACT's TDM Delegation to the Netherlands is now online. This five-day trip connects us with sustainable mobility practices from a global leader, and registration is open to all members. It's a chance to immerse ourselves in a mobility culture the rest of the world studies. Our UK Delegation was a great success, one that led to new connections, resources, and best practices, and we're excited to bring the same back from the Netherlands this time.
Next week, we'll have the privilege of honoring the 2026 TDM Hall of Fame inductees at the ACT National Awards. This honor celebrates industry-defining legacies and the people whose contributions have helped build this association into what it is today. Congratulations again to this year's recipients, Dan Bower, Andrea Leary, Jim Lightbody, and Peter Quinn, who represent some of the best our industry has to offer.
