Highlights from TDM Beyond the Commute
Thank you for Springing Into TDM with the Red River Chapter!
This month, ACT's Red River Chapter hosted TDM Beyond the Commute in Houston, TX. This 1.5-day summit brought more than 50 professionals together for a focused professional development and learning event that's sure to be remembered!
The event opened with a relaxed evening social that set the tone for the event ahead. Attendees gathered to exchange ideas, share real-world experiences, and explore what it means to look beyond the traditional commute. Many great discussions flowed, sparking new perspectives on how TDM can shape flexible and people-focused systems. It was a strong start that connected the regional community and the value of learning from one another.

The second day began with networking and conversations focused on managing travel demand at scale. The day's sessions explored how thoughtful planning and strategic coordination can keep major events moving while improving the overall travel experience. Discussions also examined the intersection of transportation and housing, highlighting how more connected systems can expand affordability and access. Other focuses of note include sustainability and resilience, which reinforced the broader impact of TDM in shaping healthy and adaptable communities.
In the afternoon, the focus shifted toward implementation and innovation. Attendees explored how to embed TDM into policy and day-to-day decision-making, while breakout sessions highlighted evolving transit solutions and the importance of addressing travel needs beyond the traditional commute.
