TDM Week 2025 Guidance

Back to main TDM Week page

The planning group has identified key points to help you prepare, including a refined audience and information about how your chapter, your council, or you as an individual can get involved. Please review the following information carefully and mark your calendars for September 15-19!

In light of the current political landscape, educating elected leaders about the importance of TDM is key. While previous observances have asked members to participate by planning events and engaging via various communications activities, this year will have a strong policy education focus. Please be sure to review the information below carefully and share these details with your chapter and council members.

All chapters are asked to take action for TDM Week and submit information about their plans to ACT staff by June 27. Further details can be found below.

What is TDM Week?

TDM Week is designed to raise awareness among public officials with influence over transportation policy of the importance of expanding access to all transportation options for all users when engaged in the land use and transportation planning process.

TDM Week is our chance to celebrate and promote the benefits TDM has on the livability of our communities and the improvements to quality of life for all people.

Audience

TDM Week is an observance planned by ACT members, for ACT members, with the end goal of engaging elected leaders and public officials. This is our chance to empower ACT’s membership to engage in impactful TDM policy education efforts. Non-members are welcome and encouraged to join policy efforts planned by chapters and councils.

How chapters, councils, and individual members can engage

Chapters and councils can:

  • Engage chapter/council members in TDM policy education efforts

  • Arrange meetings with local/federal/state elected officials

    • If assistance is needed, ACT staff are available to assist

  • Invite non-members/prospective members to join TDM Week activities (meetings, etc.)

Individuals are encouraged to participate in TDM Week through their chapters and councils. We understand that not everyone may be able to represent their organization. Individuals can:

  • Attend meetings to educate elected officials on TDM and TDM policy goals (on behalf of their organization or as an individual)

Dates to know

All chapters are asked to submit their plans for TDM Week by Friday, June 27. If you are hosting an event, please submit details through ACT’s meeting request form. Otherwise, please email your plans to Allison Caravella. Please note that hosting an event is not necessary, but if you do plan to, here is a list of some potential ideas.

If you plan to request a proclamation, we encourage you to plan far ahead of time. The timeline for each community may vary, so the sooner the better.

If chapters are holding events, their registration form must be created through ACT’s website. It also must be branded as an ACT event. Other organizations are welcome and encouraged to host events during TDM Week, but ACT will solely be promoting those (website, email, social) that align with this guidance.
