Professional Bio

Katie O’Sullivan is a certified planner and project manager who focuses on advancing sustainable travel options through emerging mobility strategies. She has significant national experience in regional and statewide planning, transportation demand management (TDM), and stakeholder engagement. She is based in Buffalo, New York, and has been living and working on multimodal transportation projects within New York State for nine years. She has served as the regional manager for the New York City, Western, and Central New York regions on NYSDOT’s active transportation and demand management program. In this role, she managed a multidisciplinary team and coordinated directly with regional and local governments, transportation agencies, employers, developers, chambers of commerce, community-based organizations, and mobility vendors to address transportation issues ranging from workforce access, to parking management, to zoning compliance. She launched and managed the commuter program Go Buffalo Niagara, including the business plan, commuter outreach strategy, downtown incentives pilot program, working groups, and program monitoring and evaluation. Her national planning and mobility experience in regions from Pittsburgh to Honolulu provides insight into best practices across a wide range of contexts.
