2025-2026 Board Spotlight: Brendon Harrington

Member Spotlights,

Brendon Harrington is the Senior Director, Global Transportation Team at Google and a 2025-2026 At-Large Director on ACT's Board. In this April spotlight, you'll learn about his TDM experience, involvement in ACT, and many fun facts!

After more than fifteen years at Google, Brendon Harrington has seen and contributed to extraordinary growth of the organization's global transportation programs. In his current role, he oversees Google's fleet and commute  portfolio, which includes nearly 400 GBuses, 1,000 GBikes, 2,000 GCabs, 6,000 EV Charging ports, almost 100 vanpools, and more. His team’s work manages TDM initiatives of all sizes across the globe and helps reduce the number of employees driving alone to work.

Since earning his BS in Urban and Regional Studies from Cornell University (and later an MBA from the University of Colorado), Brendon has been committed to advancing transportation and mobility options in the communities he serves. He's been an ACT member throughout his career, and has worked in various capacities such as program management, advocacy, operations, planning, and more. These opportunities have enabled him to make a real impact in communities like Boston, New York, Philadelphia, Denver, and the San Francisco Bay Area in both the non-profit and private sectors.

It was early on that his dedication to mobility options truly began. Brendon says, "A native of the Boston area, I have always truly loved transportation. Even before I started Kindergarten, I would count Greyhound and Peter Pan buses going by on the Mass Pike on the way to my grandmother's house. Throughout elementary school, I would make roads and little towns for my Matchbox Cars in the dirt under the big pine tree in my front yard. In high school, my brother and I would ride the commuter rail, subway, and trolley lines regularly. I also had a unique opportunity to go behind the scenes of the Boston Big Dig, putting on a hard hat to see the Ted Williams Tunnel under construction."

As a long-time ACT member, Brendon has been involved in many leadership roles. He's contributed to the Future of Events Task Force, the TMA and Employer Councils, Rocky Mountain Chapter Board, and the development of the Strategic Plan. He was a member of the inaugural 40 Under 40 class and regularly speaks and moderates at ACT events.

As a returning board member, Brendon looks forward to representing the large global employer perspective and continuing to navigate opportunities and challenges for the future of transportation.

"I always love asking both “what’s the problem to be solved” and “what is the cost of not doing TDM” to help advance practical and cost effective solutions for employees to improve their user experience and quality of life which in turn boosts employer productivity and morale," says Brendon. "I also am passionate about identifying new professional development opportunities, mentorship, and leadership experiences for ACT members to advance their career goals and impact in their current and future roles."

Outside of work, Brendon enjoys spending time with family and their Boston Terrier named Fenway. He is passionate about maps, travel, dad jokes, and music. In his free time, you can find him playing competitive Ultimate Frisbee, cycling, cheering on Boston professional sports teams, or attending live concerts.

If you see him at an event, you can ask him about the more than 600 live music sets he's attended, his visits to all 50 states, his time as an FM Classic Rock station DJ, and of course, his love for TDM!
