Engaging with Elected Officials for TDM Week

General News, Public Policy,

A green and white text on a black backgroundAI-generated content may be incorrect. As TDM week inches closer, it is important to begin thinking about requests to your mayor and/or governor to sign a proclamation declaring September 15-19 TDM Week in your municipality or state. Proclamations are a good tool for raising awareness of TDM.

To ensure your request is submitted with sufficient time, ACT encourages you to send it in 90 days before TDM Week begins. For this year, that is Monday, June 17!

Reaching out

If you would like your mayor or governor to sign a TDM Week proclamation, we recommend starting by calling their office (unless there are instructions explicitly on their website). You should be able to learn more about the process and be put in contact with the correct staff member through a phone call. It is never too early to reach out! This process can sometimes take months, so it is best to inquire as early as possible. As government staff have a lot on their plate, don’t be afraid to follow up. You can also consider sending a letter from your ACT Chapter or council urging your elected officials to sign a TDM Week proclamation.
