Executive Director's Report July 2025
As I prepare to head to New Orleans for ACT’s International Conference, I can’t help but feel a sense of excitement and gratitude. This annual gathering is always a highlight, an energizing time to learn from one another, strengthen our networks, and celebrate the progress we’re making together. But this year is extra special: it marks the official kickoff of ACT’s 40th anniversary year! We’ll be honoring four decades of advancing TDM while looking ahead to the future we’re building together.
If you still haven’t registered, there’s still time to do so! Whether you’re a longtime member or new to the community, there’s no better place to get inspired, share ideas, and connect with peers who are shaping the future of mobility. And yes, there will be beignets!
I’m especially excited to announce the release of our report “Mobility Solutions for Major Events and Venues,” a gathering of lessons learned and recommendations from ACT’s delegation trip to the United Kingdom, an important milestone that signals ACT’s growing leadership role in convening global conversations and shaping the success of major events heading to North America in the coming years. A special thanks goes out to the members and staff that pooled their insights to write this paper. I encourage you all to share this resource within your community.
TDM is not just for big events in major cities. Last month, ACT released “Bridging the Rural Mobility Gap” highlighting the innovative, community-driven strategies happening in rural America. It’s essential reading for anyone committed to building inclusive and accessible transportation systems, everywhere.
ACT is heading back to Capitol Hill during TDM Week this September for our DC Fly-In, and we want you with us. This is your chance to meet face-to-face with your Members of Congress, advocate for the policies that move our work forward, and show federal leaders the real-world impact of TDM in their districts. Registration is open.
Can’t make it to New Orleans or DC? Your next opportunity to engage with the ACT community is right around the corner. The TDM Forum is heading to Portland, Oregon, October 28-29. The event will feature full-day tracks on TDM for Events, Making the Case for TDM, TDM Strategies for Airports, and TDM as a Parking Management Tool. I hope all of you will join us in my hometown!
If you’re heading to New Orleans, I wish you safe travels, and if we haven’t met yet, please be sure to introduce yourself – I look forward to meeting you there!
Best,
David
