Executive Director's Report May 2025
As we round the corner into summer, momentum is building across the association and there’s no shortage of exciting opportunities to engage, lead, and celebrate the impact of our work.
Let’s start with leadership. Nominations for the ACT Board of Directors will open up in mid-June! This is your moment to help shape the future of ACT by nominating passionate, visionary professionals ready to champion our mission. Whether you're considering a run yourself or know someone you’d like to encourage to run, who’d bring fresh perspective and energy to our leadership, we hope you will get involved.
Speaking of paths forward, registration will soon officially open for the 2025 TDM Forum in Portland, Oregon and this year’s event is shaping up to be our most compelling Forum yet. With bold new track themes covering everything from TDM strategies for major events and integrating TDM into airport operations, to parking management innovations and making the case for TDM, the Forum is designed to challenge assumptions and spark actionable ideas you can bring back to your community. Whether you're a seasoned expert or just stepping into the field, the Forum is your launchpad for new solutions, expanded networks, and a fresh perspective on what’s possible.
Before we head to Portland be sure to join us in New Orleans for ACT’s 39th Annual International Conference. The event is more than just a conference, it's where new ideas take root, partnerships form, new programs percolate in your mind, and the future of our industry gets shaped. Check out our fantastic program. No FOMO necessary!
We’re also thrilled to open nominations for the 2025 TDM Excellence Awards, our signature recognition program that honors those who are not only implementing effective TDM strategies—but redefining what success looks like in the field. We’re looking for employers, higher education institutions, transportation providers, municipalities, MPOs/COGs, and—new this year—Transportation Management Associations (TMAs) that have demonstrated long-standing leadership in TDM and impact in their communities.
In case you missed it: ACT recently released our first-ever Global TDM Impact Report, a powerful look at the role TDM plays in shaping communities, reducing emissions, and supporting more mobility options. I encourage you to read it, share it, and use it to amplify the message: TDM is not just relevant, it’s essential.
I also want to take a moment to encourage all of you to consider earning your TDM-CP. As the field's only credential, the TDM-CP plays an important role in demonstrating your knowledge of the broad range of topic areas within TDM. With great new study resources available and a growing list of opportunities to earn recertification credits, now is a great time to start preparing for your exam.
As we look ahead to a busy and exciting summer, I’m energized by the momentum we’re building together. Thank you for the work you do every day to advance our shared vision to make every journey better. I hope to see you in New Orleans this August—until then, stay inspired, stay connected, and keep moving forward.
Warm regards,
David
