2026-2027 Board Spotlight: Ian Todreas, TDM-CP
Ian Todreas is a Patriot Chapter member and a 2026-2027 At-Large Director on ACT's Board. Get to know Ian in our January board spotlight!
For more than two decades, Ian Todreas has brought his passion for the connection between TDM and climate action to making a real difference in the field. He was first introduced to the industry when he worked with US EPA to establish, operate, and grow its Best Workplaces for Commuters program. That experience sparked his long-term commitment to advancing practical and people-focused transportation solution, which he has pursued for over 20 years as an environmental consultant.
He says, "Good TDM builds community resilience against climate impacts and severe weather emergencies. But there are so many other benefits, including expanding options for everyone to move around that are often faster, cheaper, less stressful, healthier, and more fun! Given that transportation is the largest sector generating GHG emissions in our country, and we must reduce emissions as quickly as possible, we should immediately deploy TDM to address climate change."

Inspired by the leadership of Executive Director David Straus, Former Board President Roz Tucker, and Treasurer Aaron Fodge, Ian is excited to bring his voice and skillset to the board. He looks forward to supporting ACT's federal policy and research agendas and is especially hopeful for a program or office that funds, promotes, and coordinates TDM nationally.
He says, "Climate work will never be done in our lifetimes. We have a lot of extreme weather and catastrophe baked in–it's terrifying. But we also have solutions at hand. We just need the political will to implement them. I work with clients every day on this challenge. And I find that hope, optimism, and vision from just one person can and often does cascade and multiply into something bigger and more impactful."
In his free time, Ian enjoys sketching and painting as much as possible. He loves to share his work online and in his quarterly art blog. If you see him at an event, ask him to sketch your portrait, or share your thoughts on his two truths and a lie, below:
- He once jumped out of an airplane at 6K ft and his parachute malfunctioned.
-
One summer he met George and Barbara Bush during his run by the White House and they invited him into the Rose Garden for some water.
-
He sang bass with a gospel choir and performed twice with the Boston Pops at Symphony Hall.
Congratulations, Ian, on this exciting leadership opportunity. Please join us in welcoming Ian to the 2026-2027 Board of Directors!
