2026-2027 Board Spotlight: Kendle Bjelland

Member Spotlights,

Kendle Bjelland is a Midwest Chapter member, the Lead Sustainable Mobility Specialist at ICF, and an incoming 2026-2027 At-Large Director on ACT's Board. Get to know Kendle in our October board spotlight!

Kendle first entered the workforce in the non-profit sector, where she managed programs that supported individuals with disabilities and provided educational services to refugee children. It was in this role that she encountered King County Metro’s innovative low-income transit pass program, which opened her eyes to the world of TDM.

Between 2016 and 2024, she served in various roles at Commute Seattle, briefly stepping away in 2021 to lead statewide TDM initiatives at WSDOT before rejoining the organization to continue advancing employer transit benefit programs

"At Commute Seattle, I wore many hats—small business outreach, large employer and property manager education and engagement, large commuter surveys, strategic planning, and similar areas," says Kendle. "It was an amazing place to work. When I moved from Seattle to the Twin Cities, I gladly accepted a role with ICF where I've been able to continue working in sustainability but with a constant influx of new skills and challenges."

Over the past decade, Kendle has thrived in roles that challenge her to continuously grow, innovate, and deliver high-impact results. More recently, her motivation has evolved, and more than ever, she finds deep fulfillment in supporting others' development and being surprised by their ingenuity. Working alongside brilliant, creative, and passionate teammates has been a driving force behind her continued success

Kendle says, “There is a clear link between our work and helping people and the planet. Our industry has a non-profit, social justice heart at the core, and attracts people I'm glad to know.”

As an ImpACT! Leadership graduate, former Treasurer of the Cascade Chapter, and a 2021 40 Under 40 Award recipient, Kendle has engaged with many different aspects of ACT. As a member of the board, she looks forward to supporting the growth of the TDM community, helping emerging leaders with their professional development, and expanding awareness of the field.

In her free time, Kendle enjoys backpacking, bikepacking, road biking, and spending time with family.

Congratulations, Kendle, on your upcoming leadership term. Please join us in welcoming Kendle to the 2026-2027 Board of Directors!
