Associate Vice President for Transportation Services at Texas A&M University
The Associate Vice President of Transportation Services directs and provides visionary leadership and guidance establishing the strategic direction for Transportation Services at Texas A&M University. Collaborates with key stakeholders, including department heads, senior management, and external partners, to develop and implement innovative strategies that improve efficiency, sustainability, and overall effectiveness of transportation, transit, para transit, parking, fleet systems, and events. Identifies and assesses potential risks and opportunities within transportation domains, conducting comprehensive evaluations and advises the executive leadership for informed decision making. Oversees and evaluates transportation capital and infrastructure needs which includes campus vehicles, parking inventory, and total operations.
Transportation Services is a large and complex operation with an annual budget of approximately $68 million, including $38 million for parking operations, $19 million for transit services, and $11 million for fleet management. The department manages 7 parking garages and oversees more than 36,000 parking spaces across the campus community. It maintains a fleet of 563 owned vehicles, along with 109 leased vehicles through Enterprise Fleet Management, and operates a transit system with more than 100 buses. Transportation Services employs a diverse workforce of 174 full-time staff members, supported by 22 centralized employees, 449 student employees, and 62 wage and part-time staff, with a total authorized staffing level of approximately 200 full-time equivalent (FTE) positions. This extensive operation plays a critical role in providing safe, efficient, and customer-focused transportation, parking, and fleet services.
